GGM Overall Winner EYA 2018
The Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE) successfully hosted Employer of the Year Award (EYA ) 2018 on Friday 14th December 2018 at Mlimani City Conference Centre, Dar es Salaam and was graced by Minister of Minister of State in the PMO Office Policy, Parliamentary Affairs, Labour, Youth and Employment and People with Disabilities Hon. Jenista Mhagama (MP). The Chief Guest was accompanied by her two Deputy Ministers Hon. Anthony Mavunde (MP) and Hon. Stella Ikupa (MP).

AngloGold Ashanti Geita Gold Mine emerged the Overall Winner of the Employer of the Year Award for 2018 edging out Tanzania Breweries Limited and Tanzania Cigarette Public Limited who scooped the First and Second overall runners up positions respectively.

Speaking at the occasion, Hon. Mhagama congratulated ATE for organizing an excellent Award this year and the decision to retain all 37 Awards criteria and categories following the major review done last year 2017 to give room for employers to work and improve on the same areas.

ATE Chairperson Mrs. Jayne Nyimbo -Taylor addressed some challenges that employers are facing in their businesses such as Multiple Taxes, High Rates of Skills and Development Levy (SDL), Challenges relating to Work Permits, Workers Compensation Fund (WCF) and the transfer of VETA from the Ministry of Education to the Ministry Responsible for Labour.

Speaking at the same occasion, ATE Executive Director, Dr. Aggrey Mlimuka said that the Employer of the Year Award which started in 2005 is a high profile and prestigious annual event aiming at recognizing and acknowledging best practices in a number of key human resources functions such as management of human resources, leadership and governance, training and development, performance management, quality and productivity, responsible business conduct among others.
