Decades of anti-malaria programs could not leave an impact that comes close to any aim promised. Why? – These programs have focussed on killing insects and buying medicine and poisons. But in all countries concerned, it is obvious that rich and educated people suffer less from malaria than the poor and miseducated majority. Poor people cannot buy mosquito nets or build and maintain their houses, so that they protect their inhabitants from insects. Missing or wrong education prevents millions of people from understanding how malaria is transmitted and how to protect themselves and their children.
Therefore, we say, it is time to face the real problems behind malaria pandemics: when people can participate in the wealth of our country, when they are properly educated, free from superstition and misleading judgement … only then victims of malaria will decrease in number significantly.
